13-21 Reading Review

1.  The plan that the newly allied Katniss and Rue come up with against the career tributes are is that they have to destroy all of there sources of food and water or anything to survive.  How they were planning on doing this was that Rue was suppose to cause a distraction by making a fire when Katniss goes to their camp to go destroy everything they owned.  Thats what Katniss and Rues big plan against the career tributes were.

2.  When Peeta and Katniss they continue to team up together hoping to win the hunger games together.  They meet up again because because Katniss was on the hunt for him when she stubbled upon a muddy pathway were Peeta was lying and was badly injured.

3.  While Katniss goes to get the bag that was meant for her she was nearly killed by one of the other tributes specifically from district 8.  In the bag their was a shot of medicine for Peeta because he was seriously injured.

4.  To win the games the best strategy is teamwork, especially now that their can be two winners of the game.  Katniss and Peeta have a strategy that they think they can win this whole thing.  Katniss obviously has feeling for Peeta because no one will ever got through that kind of struggle for a person if its to win a really tough game.  Even though their love relationship is just for them to get really good sponsors I think that they both really like each other but they just don't know it.

A'ole Moanalua: Less homework flyers

The purpose of our protest is to inform students, teachers, faculty and staff about the impact excess amount of homework can have on a student's overall well being. The flyer on the top briefly explains the affects a lot of homework can have on a child; while the flyer on the bottom goes over the positives of having less homework. Our slogan for our campaign, "Less Homework, More Freedom" simply means that if teachers assign less homework students will have more time for themselves, family and overall become a happier, healthier person.

Macbeth essay (Final)

Power is the possession of control or command over others.  It's really complicated to have power and control over people.  In the story of Macbeth, the character Macbeth wants too much power over too many people.  Macbeth, one of the best soldiers, became the King of Scotland, because of what the three witches that could tell the future told him.  Nothing will stop him from getting what he wants.  He'll do anything that he possibly can to become the one and only king, even if it means killing his closest family members (King Duncan, his cousin) or one of his best friends (Banquo). In the book by William Shakespeare, it teaches us that the amount of power we have shouldn't change who we are as a person.  If we have power, we need to choose wisely how to use that power, because it change that person very easily.

Macbeth and his wife Lady Macbeth are a loyal and compatible couple.  They are looked up to by the people they meet.  But what the loyal people don't know about this power couple is that they are cold blooded murders who will desperately kill the people in line to be king.  "He'll never see tomorrow's sun!" (Act one, scene 5, line 56).  Lady Macbeth is trying to tell Macbeth to kill his cousin King Duncan, because King Duncan's sons are next in line for king. The ruling couple is trying to make a statement, by killing their dad so that they would be scared and not wanting to be king anymore.  "When they are drunk and sleeping like pigs, what can't we do to the unguarded Duncan?" (Act one, scene 7, line 62).  Lady Macbeth and Macbeth are trying to plan out their murder of his cousin, King Duncan.  They are really worried that their plan wouldn't work and hoping that they would succeed.  This shows that the amount of power they have no one would suspect them of this killing.

Murdering someone can make some people kind of paranoid because they feel the guilt deep down and not telling other people makes it even worse.  They will always suspect that someone will find out about the crime that was committed.  "Now he feels his secrets murders sticking on his hands.  Now every minute, revolts revenge his crimes."(act five, scene two, line 15).  Angus is suspecting that Macbeth murdered King Duncan because Macbeth was the only one there and his guards were fast asleep because they were drugged.  Angus suspects that of macbeth because macbeth was being very suspicious.   "I've almost forgotten the taste of fear." (Act five, scene 5, line 7).  He is saying that he has no fear of anything because he done so many things that he wasn't afraid of doing it again.  Even though he was very paranoid over killing King Duncan and his friend Banquo he was still capable of killing more people.

While Macbeth was so close to being the official king and getting what he wanted, Lady Macbeth couldn't handle the guilt of all the things they had done and killed herself.  "The queen my lord, is dead." (Act five, scene five, line 16).  Seton is telling Macbeth that LadyMacbeth is dead but Macbeth doesn't seem to care that much about it because of how close he is from being king, and doesn't really care because she's practically the one that made him kill King Duncan.  "The devil himself could not pronounce a name more hateful to my ear." (Act five, scene 7, line 8).  He's telling Macbeth of how evil he is and what kind of horrible things he has done.  Macbeth does not know how many people hate him because of what he did.

If we have power, we need to choose wisely how we use that power.  The need for power and doing whatever is necessary to try to be king, overtook Macbeth's life and changed him forever.  Macbeth's actions were not worth it because he ends up dying with a stick in his head and nothing for him and not having the respect of anyone.  Knowing how much power Macbeth has and his concentration for being king, if he hadn't abused his powers he could've gotten the position of being king in a clean way and more people would respect him.  He would've been more powerful than ever.  In the book by William Shakespeare, it teaches us that the amount of power we have shouldn't change who we are as a person, because it change that person very easily.

Well i think that macbeth would be able to get away with murder because of how he set the whole thing up.  I thought it was clever to make it like it was the guards fault, And plus i think he would get away with murder because he has many connections and nobody will suspect that its him.

"they will get the blame for the murder."

"who would dare to take it otherwise since we shall grieve and lament his death so loudly?"

5. What do you think macbeth should do?

Two Thesis Statement

1. a) Theme: In the novel "Night" by Elie Wiesel he proves that through rough times staying together with family helps you feel a sense of safety and happiness.

- "I certainly do.  But on one condition: I want to stay with my father" pg 46.
22
- "Take care of your son. He's very weak and dried up.  Look after him well, to avoid the selection.  Eat! It doesn't matter what or when.  Eat everything you can. The weak don't hang bout for long" pg.42

- "I raised my eyes to look at my fathers face leaning over mine, to try to discover a smile or something resembling one upon the aged, dried up countenance." pg.65

- "Lets keep together.  We shall be stronger." pg.68

1. b) Character: Believing in religion especially for jews is such a struggle, for survivor Elie Wiesel he showed the strong strength in what he had for his religion.

Critical Stance:  Wiesel chronicles the gradual dehumanization of the prisoners.

1. A) Dehumanization:  is the psychological process of demonizing the enemy, making them seem less than human and hence not worthy of humane treatment. This can lead to increased violence, human rights violations, war crimes, and genocide.

B) The prisoners of the camp showed gradual transformations.  They show gradual transformation throughout the book because toward the beginning of the book they had a string relegion and prayed a lot for the help of god.  Toward the middle of the book they start losing their faith in their relgion because they new they were going to die sometime throughout their journey.

C) The behavior that i noticed in Elizer is that he lost faith in his religion.  The changes that I noticed in him is that he had grown more mature.

2. A)

Holocaust

The word “Holocaust,” comes from the Greek words “holos” which means whole, and the word  “kaustos” which means burned, was historically used to describe a sacrificial offering burned on an altar. Ever since 1945, the word holocaust has taken on a new meaning. The holocaust is now known as the mass murder of 6 million European Jews as well as members of some other persecuted groups, such as Gypsies and homosexuals, having killed 11 million people total. The Nazis thought Jews were racially superior and they were a threat towards the Germans.

During the holocaust many innocent citizens died throughout this time.  Jewish people  were not the only ones targeted but many others were as well.  The Nazi army targeted people such as Gypsies, Homosexuals, Jehovah’s witnesses, and the disabled for persecution.  Whoever tried to resist the Nazi will also be forced to labor or even murder. “By 1945, the Germans and their collaborators  killed nearly two out of every three European Jews as part of the Final Solution.” Millions of Jewish people were killed because the Germans felt that they were a threat. During the holocaust about 11 million people died and six million of those people were jews. “Between two and three million Soviet prisoners of war were murdered or died of starvation, disease, neglect, or maltreatment.” These inhumane acts had scared so many people. So many family members were lost to the holocaust. The holocaust was such a bad time for Jewish people and many others, this deadly time period will never be forgoten.

Allusion Poem

Everyday is the same routine
day by day
night by night
you don't know how I feel
or what its like

being under your commands
constantly telling me what to do
i just can't stand your demands
they're just useless
just useless

The two sisters
standing right in front of me
just staring at me
glaring me down
with your big brown eyes

you can't control me
you can't control anything about me
not my actions
nor thoughts
nothing you just can't control it

you can't control me
my fairy godmother by my side
everything is possible with her when she's here
she will defend me
not you

One wave of her magic wand
Poof, be gone!
i have been waiting for this
you can never see me coming now
never
